9/11 Help Us, Help Them
One of the reasons I came home for a visit this week is that Jenna said she needed help raising money for some of my animal friends who had to move out of their homes recently due to a big storm. She says that a big storm happened in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi and that many animals no longer have homes and don't know where their human friends have gone. Who better to try and help them than another animal?

Willie and I are going to collect money for the Louisiana SPCA so they can help animals be reunited with their owners soon. There are so many good organizations that help people and animals that it was hard to choose but we know how hard it is to not have a home to go back to and we thought this would be one good way we could help. People have been so kind, dropping coins and paper money into our jar!
Jenna's store is also collecting toys and stuffed animals to send to a shelter in Houston Texas to give to the little kids who had to leave their homes when this storm happened. A nice lady named Jan comes and picks up the toys at our store and the nice people at UPS are shipping everything to Houston.

Meet Geoffrey the Giraffe, another furry friend at Bearly Country. Geoffrey is 5 feet tall and usually stands out on the porch of Jenna's store, greeting people as they enter the store. Jenna made him a sign to wear asking people to help us by bringing toys for Hurricane Katrina's littlest victims and people have been bringing bags of toys and other things to help out.
Willie and I want our picture taken with Geoffrey but he is SOOOOO tall that it will be hard to get all of us in the picture. We're going to try this week and see if we can get a group picture with some of the other furry friends in Jenna's store.
Till Tomorrow,

At any rate MSU helped too. Steven's Van Lines donated a truck, driver and the gas to drive down supplies for the University of Louisana Veterniary school where there are lots and lots of evacuated animals. They needed a long list of things to help. My sister has donated money already, but gave me some more to go buy things to send in the van.
I called up Pet's Supplies Plus and spoke with the owner of the Lansing franchices. That's where I go to buy Skizzy's food and litter. He was incredible ... gave us 2 for the price of one on everything we bought! The corporate Pet's Supplies has also given tons of money to another organization that 90% of the money goes straight to the animals. We were able to donate lots of cases of dog & cat food, pooper scoopers (even some nice ones for dogs) and a whole lot of cat litter.
Sure hope that people remember the Universities that are helping and donate to them too! Also ... pet owners really should buy things for their own pets at Pet's Supplies, they are GREAT!
So glad to see you are helping too Happy!
