Your Monday Photo Shoot: Opening Day!

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Opening Day!   By The Way...by John Scalzi
Opening Day is here, when all good baseball fans go out of their ever-lovin' minds at the prospect of their team taking it all this year -- yes, even Cubs fans. So here's a natural for the Monday Photo Shoot:

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Present a picture of something baseball related. It could be of opening day, if you happen to be at opening day this year, or it could be a picture from previous years of you enjoying a day at the park, or just batting around a ball with friends.

Weekend Assignment #101: Very Hidden Talents

Weekend Assignment #101: Very Hidden Talents

Here's a fun and simple topic for this week's Weekend Assignment:

Weekend Assignment #101: Name a talent that you don't have that you wish you did. This can also include talents you have a little bit of, but wish you had more.

Extra credit: Do you have any completely useless talents?
Here is the link to Scalzi's weekend assignment in case you want to share your own talent with us:
http://journals.aol.com/johnmscalzi/bytheway/entries/5587

I have always wanted to be a figure skater! Even as a child I would watch the Winter Olympics in awe of the talent these skaters have...It is so amazing to me to watch figure skaters glide around that big circle of ice as if they have every inch of the surface memorized....they live within those parameters....I was always impressed with the way they make the sport seem so easy and effortless, but in actuality, that is a very difficult sport to master. I think it is the most graceful and beautiful event to watch in the Olympics! I remember watching when the whole Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan incident! Ever since then, I have been hooked! I saw a competition here in Nashville a few years back and it was something I will never forget! I fell in love with the sport at that moment! The skaters are so graceful and skilled! I would love to be in the Olympics, skating around in a sexy little outfit doing triple jumps and gliding around on the ice showing my talent to the world! Winning a gold medal! Wow, do I dream big?! One of my favorite shows now is "Skating with Celebrities"...It is awesome! Check it out on Fox if you like figure skating! Another amazing thing about figure skating is the way those big strong men just lift those little girls over their heads and flip and swing them like they are dolls! I love it!!! So, there you go, my very hidden talent that I wish I had!  I can't think of any useless talents that I have now...at least not that I can share...lol! If I think of one, I will post later! Maybe dancing would be my talent....I love dancing!!!!

Saturday Six - Episode 65 Picture from Hometown

1. How many mirrors are there in your home?  If you could go for the rest of your life without ever looking in a mirror (but still know that you hadn't missed a button or that your hair was disarrayed, etc.) would you?
Hang on, counting...there are 6 mirrors in my home.  No, I like looking at my own reflection, thank you very much...lol!

2. What online abbreviation annoys you the most and why?
I am sooo annoyed by A/S/L?...I hate that with a passion! I refuse to ever answer that rude abbreviation!

3. What do you hate the most in this world?
Senseless crimes such as rape, murder & molestation of children, serial killing and crimes committed by sociopaths such as the BTK, and others like him. They should receive the same kind of torture that they evoke upon innocent human beings!

4. You decide to go to your next high school reunion.  What do you anticipate would be the thing most people said about you behind your back? They would probably say, "She looks much better than she did in high school". I hope so anyway...the big hair and being skinny as a bean pole is no longer..thank god!

5. You learn that because of some galactic mixup in fate itself, you must restart your life tomorrow in a new place.  You will emerge as a person with a unique past and won't seem out of the ordinary to those in the new place.  You will retain the experiences and memories of your past, but the people you are closest to will believe that you are dead and gone and you would be prohibited from contacting them.  Where would you go and why?
I would go to some place like Mexico in the poorest communities and work as a nurse to help children and families who couldn't afford health care. Doing something good for others would help me cope with missing my loved ones.

6. What are you most passionate about in this moment of your life and why?
I am passionate about happiness! So many people live their lives unhappy, in a mediocre existence with no purpose! I believe happiness is very important in living a productive life and being a positive influence to other people, such as your family, friends, children and even aquaintances. If you are not truly happy, do what needs to be done to make you happy because you only have one life here on Earth to live so make it the best you can make it!  BE HAPPY!

Okay friends...I have a new recipe for ya! Ready for this? It's called Dirt!!! Yes, it sound gross, I know, but it is so yummy and so cool. It does look kinda like dirt but it tastes like heaven!

Dirt

1 (12oz) carton Cool Whip

1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese

4 T. butter

2 sm. pkgs. instant vanilla pudding

3 c. milk

1 bag Oreo cookies

Blend cream cheese, butter and Cool Whip. Mix milk and pudding. Let this set for 2-5 minutes. Add to cream cheese mixture. Crush Oreo cookies. Layer cream cheese mixture and cookies, leaving enough cookies to cover the top to resemble dirt.

There you go! How much easier could it be? It's really good, let me know if you make it. It is definitely a winner with the little ones. My kids LOVE it!

Heat oil, cook meatballs until browned, removing as they brown.  Sauce: In drippings remaining in skillet over medium heat, cook onion and garlic until onion is very tender, stirring often. Stir in tomatoes, paste, sugar, basil, salt, pepper and water, stirring to break up tomatoes. Add meatballs, heat to boiling then reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes, turning meatballs and stirring occasionally.

Add some spaghetti noodles & garlic bread and Voila!!! A yummy dinner that everyone will LOVE! My husband loves when I make these. It's a pretty simple recipe and so good. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as our family does.

Monday Photo Shoot

Monday's Photo Shoot assignment from John Scalzi at By The Way...

Night time is the right time for this week's photo shoot:

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Capture a striking scene at night. The content of the picture is your choice, but it should be at night, and if at all possible it should be a cool shot.

Saturday Six

  Picture from Hometown

1. What is the last product or service you tried just because you saw a commercial that impressed or amused you about the product?  Did you like the product or service after you tried it?
I bought the new Fruit & Walnut Salad from McDonald's yesterday because the commercials are so cool..It's like "oooh" meets "aaah." That is their campaign slogan. It was really good I must say! I will purchase one again..maybe today!

2. How old is the oldest photograph in your home?  Are you in it?
The oldest photo I have in my home is a pic of my husband's parents when they were dating. It was made sometime in the 60's at the fair. It is black and white and I love it. His parents were so young and beautiful.

2. What is the most supernatural event you have experienced?  Did you feel there was a specific reason that it happened to you?
I survived a really horrific car accident as well as my sister and her friend. My mom's new Honda Accord flipped while I was speeding down a country road and my sis was thrown from the car. I had on my seatbelt which was not the norm. I would have probably died had I not had it on. My sis and I were both held by angels that day. I believe God spared our lives because there was still something here on Earth we needed to accomplish.

4. Do you usually consider the glass half-empty or half-full?

I would like to think Half-full...but sometimes when I am depressed it is definitely Half-empty. I try to stay positive though.

5. What part or parts of your body do you shave regularly?
My goodness...getting personal aren't we...I will have to say every hair on my body except for my head..does that answer your question? ALL of it! I HATE hair!

6. What day is typically your busiest of the week?  What day are you usually the happiest?  What day are you usually the saddest?
Monday seems to be the busiest day of the week for me...recovery from the weekend..messy house, laundry, etc. I am usually happiest on Sunday! We go to church and go out to eat as a family and spend time outside together. I am usually the saddest on Monday also...I hate Mondays!!!
