Feeling Chillin'

Whats it all about

A few weeks ago i was reading the sunday paper and there was an article on blogging. A lot of the articles are taken from other papers or editorials so i'm not sure where else this may have run, but it was good although aol wasn't mentioned as having entered into journaling also. I know its new, but it would have been neat to see it mentioned anyway.

So in this article highlighted was a career mother with a blog, and they ran some of her entries. They did some interviews of course of random others about blogging and journaling. Also highlighted was another journaler, a college man who pays for various bloggs and websites. He made comments like (i'm doing this by memory btw) no one wants to read a journal about your personal life, so he tries to avoid writing about this. When he used to write about himself and everyday things he noticed his hit counter would go down, but the more he writes about other things he noticed it has skyrocketed. Wow, now thats something!

Personally, i love to read about other peoples lives, their day to day things. Makes me feel 'not so alone'. These are the journals that i like to read. And since i'm not worried about my hit counter going up, and it is my journal, i can write about me or not. I just don't find journaling to be a popularity contest, and thats what this college guy made it sound like it is for him, and maybe it is for some. It wasn't for the career mother, thats the fun of it and you can feel it in the writing.

It's sad, in my opinion, because even here in J-land for some it is about the counter. But, everyone has their own motivation for writing. I just hate when people start whining about it.

Thanks for the link to "IT" I didn't watch the show so I missed seeing "IT" and now I see it really was all that much sh"IT" to "IT." ;-) ---Robbie

I agree with everything Lisa said. I'm so tired couldn't think of my own words but she covered them for me. I like your journal very very much!

I agree with you about writing in my journal about my personal life and problems. There are journals out there that make you think so hard, your head hurts! I personally don't want to think that hard, and find that reading other mom's or dad's journals makes my day go by better. It does help me to feel not so alone in my stay at home mommy world. I also don't care if my hit counter goes up and seldom even look at it.

I think journaling should be whatever we want it to be.....a place to remember and share my past.......at my age. : )
