Feeling Anxious

The Couch... the saga continues

My hubby used the little green machine and cleaned the couch today. From what i'm told it doesn't have that smell anymore it smells wonderful, so wonderful you want to rub your face against the cushions. I'm not betting on it just yet. Here's the couch story if you missed it. I'm afraid to go near it. It's finally dry and i had him invite someone over to play ps2 so i don't have to go near it. Just not yet. I think next he's doing the loveseat and then the chair, hopefully the soapy smell doesn't wear off and by the time the chair is done the couch doesn't smell like it did before.

My son kind of freaked me out today, he wanted to sit on the couch. It was wet. It had just been washed, it was sopping wet, and he wants to sit on it. I don't get it. There are other places to sit so why does he want to sit on the couch so bad? I kept telling him he can't sit on it because its wet and he says 'so what i don't care' so i asked my 3 yr old daughter do you want to sit on the wet couch and she said no and my son says 'but i do!' and i said no again. This went on for i can't tell you how long. How is it a 3 yr old knows you don't sit on wet furniture but an 8 yr old doesn't understand why you shouldn't? Is this a boy thing and the comprehension is too much for him, the logic too much, because his brain is still trying to process 'put the seat down'. He sat on the middle of the kitchen floor and argued with me over this, not understanding for some reason that you just don't sit on a wet couch. He just didn't get why he couldn't sit there so i told him its the same reason why you don't put your hand on a hot stove, and he says 'it will burn you' and i said 'yeah' so he says ' the couch will burn me?'. So finally after that i gave up explaining and used the reason my mom always used that i hated ~ because i said so! Really, if he wants to sit in something wet so bad he can go outside and sit in the snow, there is plenty of it!

Thank goodness my son wasn't paying attention about an hour later as i was rounding the kids upstairs. My hubby had put down a towel and was sitting on the couch.

It's just a "boy" thing and if my 8 year old started arguing with me about sitting on a wet couch, I would do my typical "Go right ahead, BUT, you will have to sit in your wet clothes the rest of the day.". That leaves it up to him and usually he will decide not to do it knowing the "punishment" that will come later. It is a "testing their boundaries" thing I think and they feel they need to push, push, push! I give you credit though for trying to reason with him!
    Hugs and love, Lisa

Your son doesn't mind that it will look like he had an "accident" by sitting on the wet couch? LOL Boys can be wierd sometimes no doubt. Frebreeze works wonders on furniture too.
