All About Me

Born in New Haven in 1957, graduated from U. Mass. in 1978 and received an MA from the University of San Francisco.  Became a national chess master in 1981 and a FIDE Master in 1993.  Eade also holds the master title in national and international correspondence chess.  Chess writer, editor, publisher and organizer, he is best known for "Chess for Dummies" published in 1996.  His latest book on chess, "The Chess Player's Bible" was published in November, 2004.  Here is his wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Eade

Golf takes over my life


I don't give many lessons anymore, but when approached about what it would take, my answer was a free round at Pebble Beach.  Well, last Monday I collected!  I shot a 96, which I was pretty happy with.  They day was perfect (OK, a little cold and windy) and the views spectacular.

I spent the last four days watching every minute of the Masters, and I can finally say that I putted like Tiger!

I love being cited.


I was looking through "Win with the London System" by Johnsen and Kovacevic, and noticed that they cited my game with de Firmian from 1993.  They gave me (White) a slight advantage after 21 moves.  The game was eventually drawn.  The citation is on page 152.  It made my day, but when I told my wife she just looked at me, as if to say, "What's the big deal?"
