Derek Anderson CLE vs. MIA Sun 01:00PM |
Texans QB Matt Schaub will lead his club against division rival Jacksonville in Week 6 as Houston (3-2) look for their second two-game win streak of the season. Schaub has at least one touchdown pass in five of his seven career starts. (Updated 10/11/2007). More... |
In Week 6, Derek Anderson and the Browns host the Dolphins, who are ranked third against the pass, but 31st against the run. Teams have run so well on Miami that they're not taking to the air against them. The Dolphins managed to pin down the Texans' running backs last week, but Matt Schaub and his backup receivers totaled 294 yards. (Updated 10/10/2007). More...

Patriots RB Sammy Morris had 102 yards rushing in Week 5, giving him back-to-back 100-yard rushing games for the first time in his career. Morris has also scored three of the four New England rushing touchdowns this season. (Updated 10/11/2007). More... |
In two career games vs. Cincinnati, Chiefs RB Larry Johnson has rushed for 269 yards (6.3 avg.) on 43 attempts with three touchdowns, including 201 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-3 win on 1/1/06. (Updated 10/11/2007). More...

Travis Henry
|
Tampa Bay's Michael Pittman could be sidelined up to two months with an ankle sprain that has the Buccaneers scrambling for experienced help at running back. Coach Jon Gruden said Monday that the team was waiting for the results of an MRI exam, but that it appeared Pittman, injured during Sunday's 33-14 loss at Indianapolis, will be out six to eight weeks. Pittman, the team's best receiver out of the backfield, replaced Williams as the starter against the Colts and hurt his right ankle when he was tackled by linebacker Tyjuan Hagler midway through the second quarter. (Updated 10/08/2007). More... |
The Rocky Mountain News reports that Broncos RB Travis Henry was excused from practice Tuesday to fly to New York and challenge his positive drug test. It is believed that Henry has agreed to a hair test and a lie detector test. If Henry is found guilty in court of failing the drug test, it is expected that he would appeal, reports the Denver Post. Thus, the entire process might take as many as five weeks to get settled, and it is expected that Henry would be allowed to play that entire time, but that's if the NFL doesn't step in first. (Updated 10/10/2007). More...

The Eagles' last game before the bye was at the Meadowlands, a 16-3 loss to the Giants. Coming off the bye, they're going back to the Meadowlands to play the Jets in Week 6. The Eagles are 8-0 following the bye since Andy Reid was the head coach and the club is 7-0 all-time against the Jets. Making matters easier is the Jets' 25th-ranked pass defense, which has yielded nine passing scores with only three interceptions. The Jets have allowed a 100-yard receiver in three of their five games this season. (Updated 10/10/2007). More... |
Seattle WR Nate Burleson had one catch for 7 yards Sunday against Pittsburgh. (Updated 10/07/2007). More...

|
For the second straight week, Patrick Crayton took the role of leading receiver for the Cowboys (behind TE Jason Witten, of course), catching six passes for 73 yards. He also caught a crucial touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a four-yard pass from Tony Romo. (Updated 10/09/2007). More... |
The Steelers were surprised when Holmes' hamstring worsened during the pregame warmup and he did not start. The third play of the game was designed to be a long pass to him, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was forced to switch to another play. Holmes, second on the team with 14 catches, sounded as if he might not be ready had the Steelers been scheduled to play this weekend. "I got a long season ahead of me," he said. "I have to be smart about the situation, take my chances waiting it out. If I have to miss another game, then I will, but right now I can just take my chances waiting it out." (Updated 10/10/2007). Nate Kaeding SD vs. OAK Sun 04:15PM |
K Nick Folk came up huge for the Cowboys in their 25-24 win at the Bills in Week 5. The rookie knocked a 53-yard field goal straight down the middle to, by all appearances, give the Cowboys a one-point win as time expired, but Bills head coach Dick Jauron had called time out just before the play. On the second attempt, Folk booted the ball straight through the uprights again to seal the victory. He made four field goals total in the contest -- a 29-yarder, a 37-yarder, and a 47-yarder to go with the 53-yarder -- and also kicked an extra point. (Updated 10/09/2007). More... |

Baltimore County High School Football Friday Preview (courtesy of digitalsports.com)
Randallstown (5-0) vs. Eastern Tech (5-0) Time: 7 p.m. Friday at CCBC-Essex Outlook: The Mavericks (1-0 league) enter this 3A-2A League contest after having perhaps their best game of the season in last week's 52-8, non-divisional rout of New Town, a team Randallstown edged, 14-6. RB Darian Conners led all rushers with 80 yards and had two TDs, one of them being on a 10-yard pass from QB Travis Crane, who also ran for one score and threw for a 1-yard scoring strike to TE Ryan Schlothauer. RB Thomas Edwards and RB Rodney King also scored TDs last week for the Mavericks, who have out-scored their opponents by a combined, 203-29, and their four county opponents by 188-18, including a 42-0 shutout of Pikesville. Last week, the Mavericks totaled 306 yards of offense, and they have 1,283 offensive yards for the season. Schlothauer also leads a defense that includes LB Devin Hardy and LB Bryan Watson, and the three combined for 19 tackles last week. Schlothauer had his third and fourth sacks of the year and also forced a fumble. Hardy also recovered a fumble. Crane returned an INT 30 yards for a TD. The Rams (2-0 league) are coming off last week's 41-7 non-divisional rout of Pikesville, during which QB Tashaun Perry ran for scores of 4 and 56 yards and threw a TD pass to WR Derrick Fickling. In that game, RB Darique Taylor ran for a TD, made eight tackles and had three INTs, and both RB Wesley Bennett (game-high 123 yards) and RB Lamarr Nichols ran for TDs. Byran Eaton made 12 tackles for the Rams. Over the past three seasons, the Mavericks won, 7-6, in 2004, and, 35-14, last year, with the Rams winning, 14-7, in 2005. The Mavericks have won 11 of their past 13 games against county rivals, including the past five. Only Hereford has beaten the Mavericks during that time, winning last year's regular-season finale, and last year's Class 2A North Region semifinal. The Mavericks also have beaten Calvert Hall of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association's A Conference. Parkville (5-0) at No. 18 Hereford (5-0) Time: 7 p.m. Outlook: Since the arrival of fourth-year coach, John Marquette, the visiting Knights have reached the playoffs for the first, second and third time in school history, going, 6-5, 9-2, and, 8-3, in the process. This year's Knights, who, like the homestanding Bulls, are 4-0 in Baltimore County's 4A-3A, have out-scored their opponents by a combined, 148-9, with three shutouts. QB Asa Laboo has passed for five TDs and rushed for another. RB Ian Sadan, whom Bulls' coach, Steve Turnbaugh, called, "the most dangerous back we've seen this year," has scored 10 TDs. RB Tai Ji Glenn-Akles has two rushing scores. WR Josh Moore has three receiving TDs as part of a balanced offense. Defensively, the Knights' Sadan, Mujib Muhammad, LB Andrew Ewers, Terell Fields, and Montez Mayo-Smith lead the way. Fields has intercepted at least two passes; Justin Randolph and Joe Ross are adept at recovering fumbles. Ewers, a 6-2, 215-pound DT who is a native of Jamaica, never played football before enrolling at Parkville as a freshman. Marquette and his Knights are 21-3 when his daughter, Abby, 2, is in attendance.
|
The Bulls are coming off last week's 46-19 rout of Franklin, during which RB Hassani Cromwell rushed for 154 yards and three TDs; RB Lonnie Liggins covered 145 yards for two more scores; and QB Tyler Brown ran for 104 yards and another TD.
The Bulls got a 5-yard scoring run from Jason Fisher, and have out-scored their rivals by a combined, 232-70, including a 64-8 rout of a Catonsville squad the Knights edged, 13-3.
In a close game, each team has a quality kicker: The Bulls have Adam Yates, and the Knights, Mike Gagne. |
| Hereford QB Tyler Brown (above) engineers a Wing-T offense which has keyed the Bulls' out-scoring their opposition by a combined, 232-70, including a 64-8 rout of a Catonsville team Parkville edged, 13-3. Hereford plays host to Parkville on Friday night in a battle of unbeaten Baltimore County 4A-3A teams. |
|
Turnbaugh is 128-21 over 13 seasons at Hereford, having won the Class 1A state title in 1997, the Class 2A crowns in 2001 and 2002, and eight county 2A-1A League championships before Hereford was reclassified as a 3A school this year based on enrollment. The Bulls defeated three-time defending county 4A-3A league champ, Perry Hall, 28-25, two weeks ago, ending a two-game losing streak against the Gators.

Eastern Tech Football (I'll be at the game!!)
RAMS READY FOR MAVERICKS Randallstown's rout of Pikesville set up next Friday's Baltimore County 3A-2A League clash with Eastern Tech and a battle of unbeatens at CCBC Essex. by Lem Satterfield
Tashaun Perry ran for scores of 4 and 56 yards and threw a TD pass to Derrick Fickling; Darique Taylor ran for an 8-yard touchdown, made eight tackles and had three interceptions; and both Wesley Bennett and Lamarr Nichols ran for TDs as Randallstown routed Pikesville, 41-7, in a non-divisional, Baltimore County game on Saturday.
Bennett had a game-high 123 yards, and Byran Eaton made 12 tackles for the Rams, who will spend the next week preparing for Friday night's county 3A-2A League clash with Eastern Tech at CCBC Essex.
Randallstown is 5-0 overall, 2-0 against the league, and Eastern Tech is 5-0, 1-0.
Over the past three seasons, the programs have swapped victories.
The Mavericks won, 7-6, in 2004, and, 35-14, last year, with the Rams winning, 14-7, in 2005.
The Mavericks have won 11 of their past 13 games against county rivals, including the past five.
Only Hereford has beaten the Mavericks during that time, winning last year's regular-season finale, and last year's Class 2A North Region semifinal.
Against four county teams this season, the Mavericks have a 188-18 scoring advantage, including a 42-0 shutout of Pikesville.
The Mavericks also have vanquished Calvert Hall of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association's A Conference, a team which, on Saturday, lost, 14-10, at defending MIAA A Conference tri-champion Gilman on a goal line stand in the final 20 seconds.
"They're a very deep and talented team," Randallstown coach Albert Howard said of the Mavericks, who defeated New Town, 52-6, on Saturday.
The Rams earlier defeated New Town, 14-6.
"Eastern Tech is one of the better Class 2A teams in the state," said Howard. "We'll have our work cut out for us."

Media Power Rankings
Here are my national media power rankings, the best in media when it comes to TV, radio and online:
1. Whenever you see pictures or videos of the wonderful adventures of Britney Spears on Access Hollywood or Entertainment Tonight or even CNN, you always find out that the video comes from not TMZ or AOL or Myspace or Youtube, but from www.Hollywood.tv. They have beaten out TMZ and all the other media tabloid newspapers to get the exclusive on Britney. So, number on on the countdown is www.hollywood.tv
2. This weekend the Stanford Cardinal football team beat the mighty superpower of USC and Versus TV was there, they broadcasted the game in primetime and got an exclusive interview with the quarterback from the Stanford Cardinal, they stole the game from TBS, ESPN and FSN. Earlier this year FSN was selling the sublicensecing rights to Big 12 and Pac-10 football games, after TBS gave up the rights for playoff baseball, Versus outbid ESPN for the rights and now will be broadcasting Pac-10, Big 12 and Mountain West Football games all season long. Number 2 is the Versus Network owned by Comcast.
3. After the Big 10 Network broadcast Appalachain State's upset over Michigan, they were able to get carriage deals from more cable system in Big 10 Midwest country, they recently signed a new deal with Insight Communications in Michigan. #3 is the Big Ten Network
4. The New York Islanders decided to give press credentials to hockey bloggers since the number of newspaper and TV reporters going to report about hockey have become less and less. #4 is a win-win situation for the NHL and unaffiliated NHL bloggers
5. There are some rumors that Imus might be returning to radio and ABC Radio to be specific, this could be great for all the people that formerly worked for Imus as well as Citadel Broadcasting, owners of ABC Radio, Imus 4 ABC Radio= profits, which is why he might be coming back. Imus is at #5.
6. Cal Ripken Jr. has been superb for TBS and has probably added to his marketing potential, I think he is pretty close to succeedinghis goal of being baseball's Charles Barkley. Frank Thomas on the other hand........................... Ripken is at #6
7. The Fox Business Net which is expected to launch next week has been getting alot of praise from conservatives, liberals, businessmen and women. I say women because some women teamed up together to form a fan site about FBN according to TVNewser, does'nt CNBC wish they had that? Ailes, Murdoch and Business TV at Number 7.
8. Who would have ever thought that a sports play-by-play announcer who is'nt funny would be considered to host a late-night talk show? Fox does. They are considering letting Joe Buck have his own late-night TV similar to Tavis Smiley's show on PBS, just with more laughs. He would be competing with the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno and Dave Letterman. Personally, I think this is going to be a train wreck but it could be good for Buck train wreck or not, because it raises his stock, the respect he has from other network executives and it makes it more likely that he would replace Ryan Seacrest (who replaced James Brown) as the face of the FOX network since they have no news anchor, and if Seacrest and FOX ever come to a disagreement he would probably succeed Seacrest as the host of "American Idol" LOL!!! Joe Buck is number 8.
9. Number 9 goes to Erin Burnett for embarrasing herself and Willie Geist, check this out, here is a script from today's Morning Joe courtesy of TVNewser after Erin Burnett asked "you know what anniversary you give wood on?":
Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC: Um — Wow. I think we should just let you answer that, Erin.
Erin Burnett of CNBC: Look at Willie's face. Willie, I know you what you're thinking. Fifth anniversary.
Willie Giest of "Tucker" on MSNBC: I'm thinking how do I get out of here? Where's the nearest exit?
Burnett: Today is the fifth anniversary of this bull market.
Joe Scarborough: Willie is giving you a little wood. Is that what you said?
Burnett: Joe, Joe, this is not skinamax. This is Morning Joe.
Scarborough: By the way, that banner, my mother watches this show, for God's sake.
10. Oprah and Paul Allen sold their women-targeted network Oxygen for over$1 billion to NBC Universal

Running back Clinton Portis practiced on his sore knee and is ready to go. Receiver Santana Moss did a lot of sprints and little else. The health of two important parts of the Washington Redskins offense took different paths Thursday as the team prepared for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. "It feels night and day," Portis said. "(Wednesday) was my first day trying to do anything, and it was limited. (Thursday) I ran full speed on numerous plays. I felt real good." (Updated 10/04/2007). Seahawks WR Deion Branch had another big game Week 4 at the 49ers, racking up 130 yards on seven catches, including a 65-yard breakaway. Branch was shut out in the season opener against Tampa Bay, but, according to The Sports Xchange, has been the team's leading receiver over the next three weeks. "He's getting the ball more," head coach Mike Holmgren said of the difference in his production. "We can't get through a game without getting him the ball. That doesn't make sense." (Updated 10/03/2007). More... |
This week, Joey Galloway and the Bucs play at Indianapolis in a battle of first-place teams. In his last four games played in a dome where he's had at least one catch, Bucs WR Joey Galloway has 23 catches for 443 yards with two touchdowns. Indianapolis plays in a dome, but they also play strong defense. The Colts haven't allowed a team to throw for more than two touchdowns against them in the RCA Dome in their last six at home, including the playoffs. The last time a receiver had over 100 yards through the air on the Colts in Indianapolis: December 26, 2004, when Eric Parker caught seven passes for 103 yards and a score. That was 22 games ago, including the postseason. (Updated 10/02/2007). More...
