40 Years and Counting
So my kids tell me that the most significant movement in Rock music was simply the inception of the Smashing Pumpkins and Korn. I have only one word for that. WRONG! The most significant movement in Rock music came from the British invasion, and none more so than The Beatles. Yes, you can count on it. This is me. Old movies, good books, the Chicago White Sox, John Wayne and The Beatles. (The Sox stink right now so I have to content myself with other things.) Anyway, yesterday was a big day in the annuals of rock and roll history. (Oh, and I love history.) Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the release of the greatest rock album ever created: Sargent Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band. (Okay, so I'm old. Deal with it.)
Also on the album are the following: With A Little Help From My Friends, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Getting Better, Fixing A Hole, She's Leaving Home, Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!, Within You Without You, When I'm Sixty Four, Lovely Rita, Good Morning Good Morning, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)
Without the above album, which was released during the 'Summer of Love' in San Francisco, music wouldn't have gotten past that sweet sounds of the mid '60's, and evolved into something hard and moving. In my opinion that is. And God only knows, without Sargeant Pepper there wouldn't have been Hey Jude. Now that was an album!
We were devastated when The Beatles broke up. We all wanted to blame Yoko Ono. But who knows? It was meant to be. Their music might not be so memorable now if they continued. I remember back then we thought that they would get back together, and even held out hope after John Lennon's assassination, that Julian Lennon would take his father's place. Now that George Harrison has passed, God only knows who could take his place. It's a matter of enjoying their recordings, remembering the day, and appreciating the fact that there Paul McCartney, excuse me, Sir Paul, and Ringo Star are still with us. (Okay, I appreciate the music and some of the memories, I was only 12 when they broke up, I wouldn't want to relive the past. It was hard enough then.)

I used to actually get into arguments with people when they tried to convince me that it was "The Rolling Stones" that was the best...........
The Stones were good, But they were just a band............
The Beatles changed the world...........
Introduced us to a new culture... -
My Dear I totally agree with you................
I loved, and still Love the Beatles.
I listen to their cds on my way to work in Carrol Stream.
Sometimes singing at the top of my lungs....
Should I roll the windows up ???? he he he -
P.S. Don't worry about the kids. Someday they'll be trying to explain the genius of Korn to their own kids, and who knows what will pass for rock then.
