Happy Father's Day!

We've been on a buying frenzie of late. Just because, I'm posting photos of the pouches I bought for each side of the garage. Now I need to buy paint to paint the door and the sun porch.

God help us this Father's Day if I could think of something for Bill. Last year we bought him a new Weber grill, and the year before we got him a new fire pit. That's the second time we've done either. The winters are harsh here and God bless anyone in my house, if someone would put things like grills or fire pits away for the winter. I asked the kids for suggestions. Becky said a hammock, which is another rerun. Okay, with nothing else to work with I sent Jon and his best friend, Eric, out to buy one.

Yesterday afternoon he called me from Menards. He found one for about $45 and wondered what I thought. Okay, so the price was definately right. Anyway, while I'm speaking to him he stumbled across something he went absolutely nuts over. "Mom, you got to see this. And it's on sale too." A few hours later he pulled up outside. He asked Bill, who was sitting on the porch, to please go inside for a few minutes. Bill, of course, said no. "Mom, do something. You got to see this."

Fine. I went outside. "Okay, tomorrow is Father's Day. Unless you want to ruin it for your son, go inside now." He accepted that and went in.

Jon opened the back of his van for me. Inside was a flat box with what was called a bar-zebo. I told him, "Dad doesn't drink."

"He'll like it. Believe me, he will."

So this afternoon, Jon, Eric, Ed and Pele put it together. "It isn't coming down," Jon told me. "Took too long to put together." I watched them finish off as I started the grill. When they had it up and together, Jon pulled out this string of blue lights he used to have hanging in his bedroom. This thing is cool. I mean I like it.

We finally allowed Bill outside once the yard was picked up and the meat was ready to go on the coals. He helped me out with a pan. When he saw it, he loved it. "Cool!"

I made beer can chicken, a beef roast and stuffed pork chops on the grill. Tomorrow we're having left overs. (I buy the chops stuffed. They are fabulous.) Anyway, we ate outside, using the bar portion as our table. It is so hot, and so humid, we were happy just to be outside. (No air conditioning, here.) After we picked up we started a fire in the pit. All I can say is, a good coat of paint on the sunporch, a few chairs, and we will have an awesome backyard.

Happy, happy Father's Day to everyone out there.

I tried to post pictures. For some reason, AOL is not allowing me to. Maybe I'll do it later when it straightens itself up.
