June 2007

Finally, my photo buttons are working. I can now show the photos from Father's Day.

But first, picture me at 5:30 Wednesday morning, sitting outside a Dunkin Donuts while waiting for my son. I have nothing better to do than to sit there, listen to the crap he listens to, and take pictures because my camera is always at my side. EXCEPT WHEN I NEED IT! Anyway, I was thinking about John Scalzi's last Monday photo assignment. He wanted photos of someone or something flying. Searching my photo album, I could find nothing to fit that assignment outside of the same tired photos of buildings in the Loop. I already used them for the "Letter B" assignment, and for several art assignments, and a few other times when I could slip them in. My only other alternative was fireworks, and believe me, those photos are more tired than the building photos are. Anyway, if you look really close, you'll see this pigeon sitting on the Dunkin Donuts sign, right above the B in Baskin Robbins. I thought he was cute. Especially since at that hour in the morning, I have no business out of bed let alone buying donuts.

Bill decided that we needed to do pouches this year like we had two years ago. We went to this landscaper, which is down the street from the Dunkin Donuts. They only had one choice in flowers, and either pink or white, but then again, it's late. Anyway, they're gorgeous, and I figured I'd share them just because.

The last photos are from Father's Day,. That's Bill and Jon sitting in the bar-zebo. It has two stools, too. It looks to me like everyone is going to enjoy this thing. Jon and Ed are planning Jon's 22nd birthday, which is a week from Friday. They're definately planning a fire in the fire pit, and possibly food. I don't need to say what else a 22 and 23 year old would plan on their evening with their friends. I just need a boot big enough to put up both their butts. (I hate drinking!) Even Pizza found a purpose for this. Bill said he went to sit in the yard this afternoon, and found her watching him through the webbing on one of the shelves. Now that last photo is beer can chicken, stuffed pork chops and a beef roast on the grill. It isn't all gone yet.

We've been so busy. Ed has been working from 4AM to 5PM or later each day lately. Only because when working like this, and when dating girls who are night owls, he has a tendency to fall asleep once he sits down. He's already totalled one car. I drive him just to be sure he doesn't total another. Still, the cost of gas is incredible. Our Chrysler has finally given up the ghost, so I'm driving Jon's van each day. Between the fact that Ed works about 11 northeast of here, and Jon works about the same distance in the opposite direction, we're using about 1/2 a tank a day. Ed is trying to save so he can move out. He's finding out the hard way that this won't be such an easy thing with gas at $3.38 a gallon. I'm getting up at that hour to drive him, I'm not paying for the gas, too.

Becky worked her first and only day at that theater. The star was a major Latin talent. Becky likes her job, although she doesn't care for the star. At one point during the performance, the star entered the audience and ran up the aisles. That meant all the ushers left their posts in order to tape off the aisle so no one got in the star's way. That's when every drunk in the audience decided to use the bathroom. Becky also decided that she doesn't like drunks anymore than I do. She had some problems during the evening, most of which were handled fairly efficeintly. Her next performance isn't until the end of the month.

She was able to earn some extra money this weekend when she dog sat for the neighbors. She's saving her money for our trip Downtown this year and for a gift for Jen for her birthday. Jen and Jon share birthdays. Which if you're into horiscopes, I guess it isn't any surprise that Jen is dating Jon's oldest and best friend.

I'm going to call it quits here as I'm beginning to ramble. So good night, and sleep tight.
