Moveon.org moves on Knoxville
Checking Instapundit yesterday, I saw a photograph taken by Glenn Reynolds of a small protest near Westown Mall in Knoxville, TN. The protesters were angry with the Republican Party over the current battles regarding President Bush's judicial nominations. As it happens, a residence in Knoxville is one thing the Instapundit and I have in common. (I doubt Reynolds will be overly excited.) In any event, I was listening to Tom Sullivan substituting for Rush Limbaugh on the radio, and he mentioned that Moveon.org had been bragging about how they had held 150 demonstrations simultaneously across the country on Wednesday to protest the Republican "Nuclear Option" on judicial nominees. Sure enough, I visited Moveon.org's website and found this.
It looks to me as if Moveon.org is trying to fine-tune a flash-mob system in time for the next round of senate races, the next move in the war on terror, or the next presidential campaign. In short, they are taking the initiative in their position as the new soul of the Democratic Party.
This is both bad and good. It is bad because (1) they are taking initiative; (2) they are in perfect sync with Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean; and (3) they are moving the Democratic Party farther to the left.
It is good because... well... for all the same reasons. With any luck, they will train wreck the Democratic Party and help the Republicans enlarge their margins in Congress.

They had a demo in my little North California town, also. Hard to tell what it was about-itty bitty signs, hand made. There were maybe 50 people, who had the 'usual suspects' look about them.
If this was a 'flash' op, it was a failure.
Having observed many of these, including weekly appearances by the 'Women in Black' (another very small sign saying what they are protesting, but a big banner saying who they are. Yes, they all wear black), one can only conclude it is more about them, than anything else
