Blog Jog #2
Ready for another sprint through the online writing world? Here we go. But remember: These are just the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg.
Andrew Sullivan -- The patron saint of blogging, in no small part because he was a well-known author and commentator who lent his personal credibility to the blog world (he's repaid by being one of the few bloggers to actually make a profit off his site). Gay, conservative and Catholic, Sullivan writes with undisputed passion on the issues. You may agree or disagree, but you're never bored.
The War Against Silence -- glenn mcdonald spends most of his time writing about music you've never heard, but his reviews (with go on for thousands of words) are more than just reviews, they're observations about the world, wrapped around a soundtrack. Lately mcdonald's been branching out into other topics as well, but it's still mostly about the music, from someone who actually cares about the sounds.
Wil Wheaton -- You remember him as the kid from Stand By Me and (more infamously) as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek. But now he's back, in blog form. And he's refreshingly normal, which is more than you can say about other former child stars. Many come to mock the formerly famous, but they stay because the enjoy his perspective on the world. He's cooler than you expect.
Jeff Jarvis -- This man created Entertainment Weekly, and has done just about everything you can do in the print world. Think he might be qualified to talk about media, online and off? Yeah, I think so too. His personal site Buzzmachine covers these plus other topics that excite his interest. An example of how even the pros blog these days.
Oliver Willis -- Anyone who thinks "kids today" don't give a squat about politics needs to get a load of Oliver. He's out there laying down slabs of opinion each and every day -- and is still young and geeky enough to get excited over Britney and Beyonce. It's an interesting combination.
More Blog Jogs to come -- and as AOL Journal writers start making their mark, I'll make them part of the jogging route as well.
