Disclaimers
Forthwith, my disclaimers: Please read and engrave in the hall of your memory.
1. I work for AOL. But it should be noted that I do not speak for AOL. Anything I type here should be construed as coming from me alone, and not from AOL, the corporate entity. In other words, blame me.
2. AOL is giving me a lot of leeway on this thing, which I appreciate. However, from time to time, AOL the corporate entity may request that I make note of something, and I think that's entirely reasonable. So that you know when that happens, such information will be conveniently filed under the heading "Notes From the Corporate Overlords." Look for it for all your AOL needs!
2a. Related to this, from time to time, I may post a link that's accessible only to AOL members. When this happens, I'll note it with "(AOL Link)" directly after the link. When I do make an AOL link, I'll try to find a similar alternate link for the rest of you.
3. I link a lot; that's what you do with a blog. At the time I make a link, I'll make sure that the link meets a general "PG"-like level of acceptability. However, you should know that AOL exercises no control of, and is not responsible for, the content of third party sites. Over time the content of pages I link to can change, and there's always a chance that content elsewhere on the third party site could be offensive in some way. Just so you know.
4. I want to encourage AOL Journal writers to write about issues that are important to them, and to link to them when they do. I'm aiming for a wide range of topics and links, across the whole AOL Journals community. As such, from time to time you may run across a link from this blog to an AOL Journal entry that you totally disagree with. When this happens, don't just take it lying down -- write a response in your own AOL Journal and send along a link!
4a. I'll also be linking to a wide range of blogs, journals and other online content outside of AOL, and you may have the same problems with that content. My suggested solution: See above.
5. Like everyone else in the universe, I have opinions. From time to time I will share those opinions with you, as a way to spark comment or Journal/blog entries, or just because I feel like mouthing off on a particular subject. It's entirely possible you may disagree with my opinion. I hope you'll let me know. After all, just because I have an opinion doesn't mean I'm right.

There has been no comments to your disclaimer for a couple of years ... but I had to comment on Number 1 .... work for AOL .... if you were a CL, like the rest of us, you don't anymore. If you are corporate, I wonder if you can read the collective minds, not ONLY of a majority of the displaced CLs which would be ear shattering, but of the members that 'were not polled and asked if they prefer hosted or unhosted chats'. Probably not the place to vent my ire, but it was there, the moment was there and what the hay, eh?
