Hearing Just a Girl -- No Doubt
The UN Bombing in Iraq
Via InstaPundit, an on-the-scene recounting of yesterday's UN bombing in Iraq by blogger Chief Wiggles, who is currently stationed in Baghdad. Quote:
"What is even more disturbing is the fact that many of these acts of terrorism are committed by non-Iraqi people, those from other countries who have traveled here for the sole purpose of disrupting our efforts to give to these people a life free from fear, bondage, and torture. As if their small random acts of violence will even put a dent in our resolve to continue in our efforts to provide security and freedom to these people."
This CNN story amplifies what the Chief is noting:
"Iraq is becoming a major 'magnet' for al Qaeda terrorists, who now pose more of a threat than remnants of Saddam Hussein's Baath Party, two analysts said Tuesday after a truck bomb killed 17 at the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad."
AOL Journal Fran's Thoughts asks: "Has Bush got the US in a war than could turn into another Vietnam?" I don't know if the comparison is useful, personally, but it's clear that the situation on the ground is metastatizing into something different than what the battle was even a few weeks ago.

I've posted a couple of comments about it at my own new AOL Journal . I was going to link to the comments here, but I can't seem to insert a hyperlink in the comments. But the full links are:

Fran's comment is right. Things are getting uglier there.
