Book Notes
So, ask me why I'm in a good mood. Go on, ask! Okay, I'll tell you: I just completed the main text for Book of the Dumb, the book of mine that's coming out in October. I have a little more to do -- some ancilliary text -- but it's small stuff. By and large it's done. And if you've ever wondered what it's like to be done with a book, it's like a large bear that's been sitting on your head for months suddenly decides to go somewhere else. So, may I say: Wheee.
But enough of that. Let's talk about another book-related thing: Fox loses its case against Al Franken. This is exactly the way it should be, since Fox's case came from an alternate dimension where the first amendment is optional, and that's not a good alternate dimension. No one in this dimension, except Bill O'Reilly, thought this case had any merit at all, so it's good it's now in the trashcan. Note I'd feel exactly the same way if, say, Mother Jones magazine went after a book by Oliver North on the same grounds Fox went after Franken. This isn't about politics, this is about reminding a large corporation that it can't always have its way just because its feelings are hurt. As the judge in the case said:
"There are hard cases and there are easy cases. This is an easy case. This case is wholly without merit both factually and legally."
Exactly.
Your thoughts?

By the way, that lala was about how great I'm feeling now that Fox has lost its stupid suit.

Hey, the comments form is different in the (ahem) release version.
I love the Judges and Justices that make caustic/amusing comments from the Bench (I recall one exchange between three Justices of the High Court and a defence barrister about various slang words for "drunk"). Probably wouldn't be too funny for the object of their derisal, though.
