Hearing Istanbul (Not Constantinople) -- They Might Be Giants
A Good Example
One of the things we'd like to impress upon you all here at AOL Journals is that one can use one's Journal or blog in all sort of different ways, and on occasion one can use it for something more than just electronically gazing into one's own navel (not there's anything wrong with your navel. It's a cute navel. Really).
For example, Amanda Williams, who runs the Metamanda site. Amanda's running a marathon in September and getting people to pledge contributions through her web site; she's giving the pledges over to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She even maintains a special marathon blog to track her progress, both in her physical training and in her pledge drive. To date, she received over $4,000 in pledges, which is pretty impressive.
It's just a reminder that you can do with your Journal what you want -- and use it in unexpected and unconventional ways. You can get creative and you might even do some good.
I'll be posting other unconventional Journals and blogs from time to time to show what others are doing with their personal space -- if you know someone who is doing something different, I'd sure like to know.
