The Big Picture
I notice a lot of you have been envying my big, borderless pictures up here and have been sending me e-mail that says "Hey! We want to put up big, borderless pictures, too! Tell us how to how to do it, Mr. AOL bigshot!" Well, all right. I would not refuse you anything, so long as it does not involve an actual cash transaction.
It's a process with a couple of steps. First, you need to upload the picture you want to use into your AOL Hometown Web space. Once you've done that, when you're creating an entry, click on the "Add Pictures from Hometown" button right next to the "Add Pictures" button. You'll be presented with a list of the pictures you have in your Hometown space.
Pick the one you want, then click the "Add Picture" button. Your picture will be added to the page you use to edit entries. Then you just hit "Save" when you're done writing your entry. There you are.
Alternately, you can directly FTP (AOL link) your picture into your AOL Web space. Once you've done that, just create your entry and follow the directions from the paragraph above.
Things to be aware of: Your Hometown AOL area has a maximum space of 20MB, so if you plan to put up a ton of pictures this way, keep an eye on how many you have and how big they are in terms of file size.
Also, remember that big pictures will take longer for people to download while they're reading your journal. So try to keep the pictures small in terms of file size: Say, about 50kb or smaller. As a frame of reference, the picture above is about 54kb, which is really pushing it. On the other hand, is that a cute dog or what?
Also be aware that posting pictures this way does not allow you to present an entire album of pictures with one entry, which taking pictures from You've Got Pictures allows. Decisions, decisions.

Well, John...if you right click and paste the picture into your comments box then you can add quite a few pictures...then you can also remove the picture from your picture box and they still remain..... That way you can get several pictures in one entry. I think...at least it has worked so far. Also, be sure to tell people that they need to put the extension of the file in the new file name or it doesn't work...:)

I was wondering if you can delete pictures from Hometown. I have a few I don't use anymore and would like to get rid of them to increase my space. Any ideas?
