What's going on in the world?
* Nigerian Court Overturns Stoning Sentence -- But for procedural reasons, not because the Nigerian court in question thinks crushing someone to death with stones because she had sex with someone not her husband is somehow a disproportionate response to the crime at hand. Note that this decision to overturn the sentence doesn't mean the underlying law has been overturned. So if you're going cheat on your spouse (which, to be clear, you shouldn't), don't do it in Nigeria.
* Did you know that 50,000 Australian sheep have been drifting aimlessly in the Indian Ocean, waiting for a country in the area to take them in? Yeah, I know, it's a weird world. Well, good news for the sheep: Thanks to a secret deal, they've found a home in Iraq! Ah, but here's the bad news (for the sheep, anyway): They're slated to be sacrifices at the end of the month of Ramadan. Out of the ocean, into the fire.
* Suddenly, it's the 1950s: "Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi gave US businessmen the most compelling reasons he could think of to invest in his country: declining Communist support and beautiful secretaries."
* Worried about getting yourself or a child you love into college? Try England: A reporter applying to UK universities as "Mickey Mouse" got five acceptances, even though his application was riddled with spelling errors and noted in a personal essay that it was "time to wake up and smell the cheese." Indeed!
