Editor's Picks

Lots of questions from AOL Journalers today, so let's get right to them. Here's a question I'm getting a lot of over the last couple of days, so let me paraphrase:

"Hey! You guys haven't updated the Editor's Picks at Keyword: Journal (AOL only link) in days! What, are you all sitting around drinking Robitussin shots or something?"

First off: Robitussin shots. Mmmmmmm.

No, no. I'm just kidding about that. Use only as directed, people.

Second off: The editor's picks have gone from daily to weekly. I'm not privy to the decision process here (I'm not one of the people who chooses the picks. Which is not to say you shouldn't still keep sending me bribes. I'm kidding again! It's the Robitussin speaking), but I happen to think this is a good thing -- it's a week's worth of exposure for the writers who are doing great things with their Journals. And of course there's still a chance for hundreds of journals to be highlighted every year. Variety and publicity: Everyone wins.

Anyway. I tend to think of the Editor's Picks as a jumping off point. What I like to do is visit the Editor's Picks and then visit the journals they link to. If you do that, you pretty never run out of new Journals to explore and enjoy. Just click through responsibly, and while you are not under the influence of any sort of cough medicine. Unless, you know, you're actually sick. Okay, I've run that bit into the ground. Let's move on.

The editor's pick is weekly now. Hmmmm, well the last time it was changed was on or about Oct. 10th. I may not be the smartest person in the world, but I thought a week was 5 days, 7 tops. It has now been 12 days. I think weekly may be ok, but how many days are in their week? What do you find the best way to "surf" for journals?
