As it's the weekend and I only update a couple of times a day, here's a entry filled with entirely unrelated links. It's not a coherent entry. Which is not to say it's incoherent. That's entirely different.
* First off, AOL Journaler Sepintx is putting together his own directory of AOL Journalers; it's an interesting resource for browsing Journals you might not have read yet. If you're interested in being included, go on over and sign yourself up (thanks Viviansullinwank for the link!)
* The 10 Cheapest Places to Live -- although I don't expect this is entirely true. This is probably more accurately labeled "The 10 Cheapest Places to Live That Aren't 10 Miles From the Nearest McDonalds." And in case you're wondering if there is any spot within the continental United States that isn't within 10 miles of a Mickey D's, I'll note the nearest one to my house is 11 miles away. Yes, I checked on the odometer. And no, I won't tell you what I paid for my house.
* Something to get you theologically wound up: A conversation between Bill Moyers and Joseph Hough of the Union Theological Seminary (and former Dean of the Vanderbilt Divinity School), in which Hough explains his position that it is the duty of Christians, Jews and Muslims to fight growing economic inequality, and has a few choice words for those politicians he sees using their religion for political advantage without following the articles of their faith (in particular the aid of the poor). I'd love to know what you all think on this (politely, of course).
* The California wildfires. These are not too far from where I grew up, although a couple of years ago the fires were even closer -- they had to evacuate my high school because the flames were knocking right on the door. This happens every year at this time-- you can set your seasonal clock by it -- but no one in the area gets LA-style blase about it. It's hard to be blase about a wall of fire consuming your home.

Thanks Vivian and John!
It's basically a guestbook :-) I wanted a way for people to leave me their Journal link, and the AOL CGI guestbook for web pages works like a charm. I do have a tutorial that "attempts" to show folks how to make something similar.
