The Fires This Time

I briefly mentioned the California fires over the weekend, and noted that a couple of years ago my high school had to be evacuated because of the fires, and that this year it didn't seem like that was the case. Apparently, I spoke too soon. The good news is that there are no injuries and not much damage. Of course, the same cannot be said of the fires in general.

Here's a map from the LA Times showing where the fires are (the one that threatened my high school would be the Old fire/Grand Prix); here are fire pictures taken by people with their cell phones. More pictures, from a blogger near the fires in San Diego. Here's a blog writer near the action as well. If there are any AOL Journalers who are near the fires and want to report in, send me a link and I'll put 'em up. Of course, don't go out of your way to get to a fire on my account; I'd rather have you safe.
