Why is This Dog Smiling?
The hint as to why the dog is smiling is evident on her nose. No, Kodi is not contributing to the dark side of America's war on drugs -- that's kitty litter. Yes, Kodi indulges in The Snack That Dare Not Speak Its Name, and frankly, I think it's just plain icky. But it does mean that grin of hers is literally of a particular variety which I cannot describe without running afoul of AOL's Terms of Service. You know what I'm talking about.
We're going to have to put an end to it. Coprophagia is a no-no in the Scalzi household for everyone, all the time, regardless of species. I'm not usually one for draconian rules, but in this case I feel pretty confident about it. But in this particular case it's also a danger to the dog, if not for the snack itself (which despite its source is ultimately fairly innocuous) then because we've recently switched over to the "clumping" kind of kitty litter, which due to its clumping ability poses a risk to her gastrointestinal system. The good news is that Kodi, despite some disturbing cuisine choices, is a generally obedient dog and I suspect we'll clear up this issue presently.
Don't worry, I'm not going to try to get you all to testify to the snacking proclivities of your dog, like I asked about the cat and the toilet bowl. I mean, I know dogs. This is par for the course. But, if you ask me, it's time to change course. I mean, this dog licks my face. Mind you, not when she's got cat litter on her nose. Even so.

We have a term for the "excellent" cuisine our dogs also indulge in this household-KITTY ROCA-somehow makes it seem a little more "forgiveable" - don't you think?

Here's an idea John, buy an automatic kitty box. They work wonders. 10 minutes after kitty does the deed, poof its gone! Helps the odor and keeps the pup outta the box.

Oh, I feel so much better! I thought my dogs were the only ones who enjoyed the little "munchies" left by my 4 cats! One good thing, I don't have to clean the litter pan as often!
