Demons Eating the Moon
So, don't forget that tonight there's going to be a total lunar eclipse -- the earth is going to be directly between the moon and the sun, thus casting its shadow on the moon, turning it a deep and bloody red (why red? Because light from the sun still gets around the earth thanks to its atmosphere). Those of you on the west coast are likely to miss much of it (the "total eclipse phase" begins at just after 8pm eastern, so the sun will still be up out west), but the rest of us will get a pretty good view. Sorry, west coast. You still have many things going for you.
This is actually the second lunar eclipse of the year; the first one happened in May. I have a funny story about that one. I had gone in to watch The Matrix Reloaded that night, and there had been a full moon. When I came out, the eclipse was wrapping up, but I had forgotten that it was supposed to be happening. So I looked up an saw a half moon in the say. And one of the first thoughts I had was, I knew that movie was long, but this is ridiculous. Ha!
Well, fine. You had to be there.
Anyway, be sure to go out and enjoy the eclipse this evening.
