Hearing More Power Puffs
JFK
It's the 40th anniversary of the JFK assassination, so here you go, information. And yes, conspiracies.
I'm going to come across as almost obnoxiously ahistorical here, but I'm personally finding it to pick up much a head of steam about it. The comment of "Everyone remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot" doesn't really apply to about half the population, including yours truly. And of course, there's another, far more recent event that has supplanted the Kennedy Assassination has the moment everyone remembers where they were.

The only thing I remember about the assassination is that they took Captin Kangaroo off the air to show the funeral. I was 3 years old and wanted to see the Mr. Green Jeans.

Beside 9/11 the one memory that stands out for me was the the Challenger disaster. I remember I was twelve, it was the first time in my life that I was truly emotionally wrecked. I was too young to understand John Lennon's murder, I just remember my older brother crying, which made me cry.

You are probably speaking of September 11th in recent Memory---but i wonder
if you personally recall John Lennon's Assassination, December 8th, 1980?
That Was a Really big day for most of us. Not Comparing, just pondering... -
I made a post on my Weblog that focuses on something about JFK besides conspiracies and sex fantasies.

I'm probably the last living person who *doesn't* believe JFK had an affair with Marilyn Monroe. (There's credible evidence of a one-night stand, but not convincing for me.) - Bruce

The reason more recent events havn't replaced the clique, everyone remembers where they were when Kennedy was shot, is it was the last time the whole nation was totally shocked by anything. I was in the 4th grade and could of cared less about JFK but I still remember it. Not so much due to the event but the total and complete effect it had on people. In todays' media environment I question what percentage would cancell thier schudule to cover the story. On that day 100% of all the media covered the story. Every TV station covered the event live 100% of thier broadcast period. To a kid it felt like weeks. No Foghorn Leghorn no Bugs Bunny. Just that casket for days and days.
