AOL Journal Alerts and Beta Reminder
I'm getting a bunch of e-mail from people mentioning that their AOL Journal alerts are not working as they should, and wanting to know if I know anything about and/or the AOL Journal tech folks are on it. So, quick update:
1. Yep, the AOL Journal tech folks know about it and are looking into how to fix it;
2. At the moment, no ETA on the alert issues being resolved. I think they're still in the process of tracking down the pathology of the problem; once they nail that down, they can work on fixing it.
I will of course keep you posted on it as soon as I know more; that's what I do.
While I'm on a tech-y sort of mindset, just a reminder that the AOL Journal beta servers are switching off, so very soon if you try to reach a formerly beta journal by using "beta.journals.aol" inthe URL, you'll get nothing. The journal is still there, all you have to do is ditch the "beta" before "journals.aol" in the URL.
One person asked me what they needed to do to switch over their formerly beta journals URL to the new configuration. The answer is: You don't have to do anything. AOL has already made the switch. All you have to do is remember that you don't add "beta" to the URL. That's all!
