Hearing We're in This Together -- Nine Inch Nails
Make Money Fast!!
This is interesting: An article on surprise six figure jobs -- which is to say, jobs where you can make $100,000, even if most people wouldn't think of it as particularly profitable. Of particular interest to me: Medical writer:
If you can say words like "pharmacokinetics" 10 times fast and use them meaningfully in a sentence, you may have some of what it takes to be a medical writer in the pharmaceutical industry.
Medical writers -- unlike most of us -- have both an understanding of science and the ability to write about it, bringing clarity to complex topics.
Meticulous attention to detail and an ability to analyze both descriptive and numeric data also are musts, said Art Gertel, a past president of the American Medical Writers Association and vice president of Clinical Services, Regulatory and Medical Writing.
I don't write that sort of stuff (yet...) but I'm not at all surprised that it compensates well. For years, I've had a good business writing copy for financial clients. It's not exciting, exactly, but if you do the job well (which is to say, meet client expectations and don't cause them headaches and pain), it can pay pretty decently. Of course, it's also a lot of work (all the jobs listed in the are -- which seems reasonable for the pay).
Any of the jobs on this list appeal to you? And would you be willing to put in a lot of time for a six-figure return? Or is there a point where all work and no play makes for a dull life?

Those medical writer jobs require a PhD in a life science. A bachelors in math, masters in economics, and 25 years of technical writing experience ain't gonna cut it. Sigh.
