By The Way...

Here are some early AOL Journaler thoughts on Ivan, as it makes its way through the nation's southland:

Keener7 has started a Journal entirely concerned with Ivan.

Coy1234787: "I was just telling my mother that it is almost easier to prepare for a storm yourself than it is to think about your family and friends out there in harms way."

Indigosunmoon: "Our area is expecting 6 to 12 inches of rain,  sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph for over 30 hrs, and gusts from 70 to 90 miles an hour. I'm terrified.  I dont think our house can take it."

Miarenee24: "Mama and I were trying to squeeze our way down the canned meat and soup aisle when I overheard a man on his cell phone saying, 'They are all out of batteries and matches, and running low on water, it’s gonna be bad!'"

Dbaumgartner: "As for us, today and tomorrow we are scheduled to get high winds and flooding for two days.  Ivan is going to stall out and just hammer us.  So, I will post as long as I have power..."

Here's the latest news from CNN and from the National Hurricane Center. Remember, be safe. Also, once again, now's a fine time to make a donation to the Red Cross.

  That is such a mess, I feel for everyone. They have had plenty of time to secure what they can and be as ready as anyone could be...that should help!
  I just can not imagine such stress, I flip out over the tornado sirens!

  Hey John, here's a trivia question:  What's the most number (letter) of hurricanes we've had in a season?  
  
  I remember Opal, I think in 1985, but can't recall if there were more after it.  Haven't heard anything mentioned yet in the news (or Weather Channel)about the most.  So, anyone know the answer?  If you know, answer at my journal, so we don't waste John's space.  Take Care

  And it ain't over. Tropical storm Jeanne has just been upgraded to hurricaine status. I feel for you southeastern USAers. Man, has it been a bad season.
