Hearing Reckoning -- Megadeth

Coloring

Picture from Hometown

I don't want to come across as one of those guys who yearns for a simpler time and place, in which kids chased hoops with sticks and read McGuffey's Reader, because I think it rocks that my kid already knows how to do more things with the computer than her grandparents. Be that as it may, I like the fact that Athena likes to color -- likes it so much that while she's doing it, if you ask her if she'd like to watch TV or play a video game, she'll just go "thanks, I'm fine" and keep on coloring. Simple pleasures are good.

If you've got kids, do they still enjoy the simple stuff?

We keep Crayola in business over here... and the simple game of regular old Checkers still delights my boys.  I am thankful our children still do some old fashioned stuff.  We don't have to have battery operated bubble toys either, just the wand and bottle bubbles, thank you.  And Lincoln Logs, green plastic army men, cars and blocks... all these and more you will find on the floor beside my desk... these are the source of my inspirations.

My daughter grew up without TV until she was 7. When we went to Disney World, she didn't have a clue who all the walking stuffed animal were ;-) At first I was going to leave a link to the jungle Ken and Barbie pic, but then decided to just give the link for a whole page. I'm the mom....so I'm biased, but I think Heather knows a simple pleasure when she sees it ;-)

I totally agree....the boyz love to color and draw...they'll use just about any paper or writing/drawing utensil they can find.  I also love that they love to go outside and just dig in the dirt, making roads and lakes and mountains....we live on 40 acres, so there's plenty of dirt to play in!  Aaaaahhhh, the SIMPLE pleasures of childhood!!!!  Ever color with Athena?  The boyz really like it when Dad colors with them!!!!  Blessings, tam
