Foggy Nights

Magnificent low-lying fog at about 1:30 am this morning (I was asleep, but then the dog let me know that if I didn't want a major incident, I'd let her out the front door), in which a thin statrum of fog lay at about head height, illuminated by the near-full moon, while the air was clear above and below. All it was missing was a headless horseman hurling pumpkins about.
For all you interested in these things, taking this picture was slightly more complicated than usual, since taking a picture with a digital camera in the dead of night is a sure way to get nothing but black, even with a full moon. In this particular situation, I used the setting that kept the shutter open for three seconds, and then had to go into Photoshop and fiddle with the brightness and contrast to make it approximate what it was I actually saw. It's not perfect, but it's still interesting to look at.
