Hearing The Whole of the Moon -- Mandy Moore

Flying the Flag, Part I

Wow, we're getting a lot of truly creative entries for this week's Weekend Assignment, in which AOL Journalers and others are creating flags that represent them and their interests. You can do it too by getting the assignment here -- in the meantime, let's get a glimpse of these groovy flags:

Courlog uses a rose to represent peace.

Promiseluv372 has unicorns!

Hopelessblondie has unicorns and rainbows.

Barbaramck goes for the stars.

Deveil also has stars, and a cross.

Lorileeboard, on the other hand, goes to the moon for her flag.

Lrttklly proudly displays the flag of Ethelopia -- "the nation of loud gals who make no apologies for being bouncy, brassy, and bold." Rock!

Andreakingme displays a most interesting skull and crossbones.

It's a hot air baloon on the flag of Ondinemonet.

Mavarin displays the flag of Mâvarin, naturally enough.

Glopsblink has dinosaurs and a cross -- an interesting combination.

Justcherie memorializes the moutains and the trees.

Mosie1944's flag has a tractor!

Ancidkb47 chooses an unusual shape for her flag.

Onemoretina puts words on her flag, and says "I guess the words really aren't a symbol." Having a degree in philosophy, and in the philosophy of language, I'm here to tell you that written words are precisely symbols.

More flags tomorrow!

    Dear John,

My AOL Journal is kept private, due to an introversion that I can never seem to conquer, but I wanted to leave you a short note to tell you how much I enjoy your assignments. I'm notorious among friends for starting a journaling project and abandoning it. Being given a topic to write on, every so often, keeps me going strong. Thanks!

Citizens of my new country had to choose between three proposed designs.
