Checking In

Well, I've made it to where I'm going, alive and intact, and here's the obligatory picture of what it looks like outside my hotel window. I think we can say: Man, Michigan is flat. Of course, it's not like Ohio's got the Rocky Mountains in it, either.
The trip was uneventful, which is what you hope for when you're driving -- evental drives are the one's that shorten your life by way of panic attacks. It was a fairly short trip, about three and a half hours, and during most of that time I amused my self by thinking of various hypotheticals: What would I do if I won the lottery (hint: Lots and lots of gum)? What if I were elected president (more gum)? What if the aliens showed up this very weekend (offer them gum!)? Clearly, I like my gum.
Anyway, here I am in the lovely state of Michigan.

... another Michigan resident beat me to it, but I don't think that Ohio has any features to speak of AT ALL ... sounds like you are in the southern part of Michigan, which I agree, isn't too scenic ... but up past Flint, and off to the Northwest, you get to see a lot more ... and the UP is in a class of itself, and the mid-Mitten part of the state has fall colours that rivals that of the New England states ...
... in short, say nice things about Michigan <besides, everyone knows that Iowa is deadly dull to drive thru!!> -
I never thought I'd live to see the day where someone from OHIO of all places rags on the topography of any other state in the Union. As a proud Mitten inhabitant, we used to draw straws to choose who had not -- not GOT to -- drive Ohio. Coma enducing flatlands as far as the eye can see, and then you have to pay for the pain on top of it all. Anyway, welcome to the Mitten! ~~GreenTuna (http://greentuna.blogspot.com

Have fun! Sell books! Scintillate on cue! (etc.) Then drive home safely. - Karen
