Hearing And I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues -- Elton John

Final Words

Illinois newspaper columnist John Whiteside had recently been struggling against cancer, a battle which recently and unfortunately lost. But before he passed away, he left a final column to be filed after his passing. It ran on Sunday:

I have no major regrets. I called 'em, for the most part, like I saw 'em. But I wasted time when I should have been living every moment to its fullest.

If I have any advice to pass on to the rest of you it's all about living. Living every second of every minute of every hour of every day you are given on this good earth. And don't get caught up in any form of hatred.

Read the rest. I hadn't read Mr. Whiteside before, but I feel comfortable saying he left the rest of us with grace and style.

Hi John!  I went, I read, I felt good about life when finished.  Thanks for sending me on a little side trip.
