Whiteout

Picture from Hometown

We're having a weird combination of fog and snow flurries at the moment, which are contributing to near-whiteout conditions. The picture above is actually clearer than what I'm seeing (or not seeing) out my window at this very second. Normally, I'm not a fan of whiteout conditions, but I have to say that this morning they served me pretty well. Last night I was up until 3am doing some book writing, so I woke up a half hour late to take Athena to school (which is not to say she was late for school; I was just late for getting her ready).

I was just about to kick myself for oversleeping when I looked out the window, realized I couldn't see a darn thing, and then checked to see if there was a visibility delay for the school opening. And indeed there was: two hours! I thanked the forces of nature for saving my lazy bacon, and promptly went back to sleep for an hour.

I'll be taking Athena to school, presumably, in about 20 minutes, although if the fog/snow is still this thick I may just keep her home. Right now she's sitting directly behind me, drawing geometric shapes on the white board. She just corrected me when I mixed up a rhombus and a trapezoid she had drawn. She's six. Yeah, she'll be just fine if she has to stay home today.

Ah!  Your fog and frost photos work!  I had the same weather today, took pictures even!  'Cept that my skills of adding photos to journal entries are not what they should be, so I ended up talking about squirrels and Michael Jackson.  (Shrug) Really really, gotta work on those linking photos skills.

Athena is a marvel!  I check in regularly to see how she is making dad realize that she is the future and the future is gonna be ok. :-)
