Get Some Magic Smoke

Some of you already know Joe, the fellow who formally acts as the AOL Journals editor. Well, he has started a Journal to keep you all up to date with what's going on with the technical side of AOL Journals, and to offer up some explainations when things get a little glitchy. It's called Magic Smoke (that's a geek in-joke), and you'll find it right here. Add it to your bookmarks, why don't you.

You ask: So, John, if the AOL Journals editor now has a Journal, what do they need you for? To which I say: Shhhhhhh. Don't blow my scam, man.

More seriously, Joe will pop in occasionally with tech updates (which I will probably note here as well and direct you to Magic Smoke for fuller explainations), while I'm here all the time with the tips and Weekend Assignments, and zany links and the big cash giveaways. All right, not so much with the big cash giveaways. But all the rest of it is true.

i found this on sdoscher 458@aol.com journal LIfe Is Full Of Suprizes and I wonder if you could sibmit this to the powers that be:  can understand that AOL needs capital to work it's wonders...however, in this instance...you will be the loser.  Every single journaler who is forced to leave will bad mouth AOL at any given situation.  This is a public relations nightmare!

"I like peace, I like harmony....I would give you this scenario...grandfather in the existing journals, do not touch them - anything that was created before November 2005 would be grandfathered in and not have banner ads on them.  Anyone starting a new journal would, including anyone who is adding a new journal to their portfolio.

I believe this would work, I also believe that the older journalers who stuck with AOL through thick & thin would agree with this.

Ok....AOL...WHAT DO YOU SAY???" Sandy doscher

Joe. Please at least dedicate a journal entry to answer this and the other questions of those who are upset and let us know what AOL is saying when you meet with them

I just wanted to voice my opinion that Joe is by far the BEST Journals Editor we've had so far .. he's responsive, and helpful and even makes an appearance on the journaling message boards .. i love the way he did away with the numbering of the editors picks, making them ALL #1
that aside, i think it stinks that only the insiders get to have that special journal banner .. if it isn't open to all journalers, it shouldn't be available to anyone !!!
could ya pass that along too please? :)

I just want to mention that Joe just helped me out with a problem that I had since I started my Journal.  I have used AOL online HELP & they couldn't even find the problem or solution.

    John,
Customised title banners have been on the list of wants for some time. Are you telling me you never knew? Lessee... Tuesday, October 26th, 2004: http://journals.aol.ca/plittle/AuroraWalkingVacation/entries/584
So just mentioning it in our blogs isn't good enough, eh? And we all thought AOL's magic elves read every journal and hometown web page daily.
