Hearing Here There & Everywhere -- The Beatles

Catching Up on Travel, Etc.

And now, the obligatory picture out the hotel window:

As I briefly noted late last night, Madison really is a lovely little town, and you can see some of that here, although the most impressive view (that of the Capitol Building) is on the other side of the Hotel. No worries, I'll snap a picture of it at some point and post it here so all you non-Wisconsinites can enjoy it as well.

Today I'll sign in for the convention I'm here for, catch up with some old friends, hopefully make some new ones and also do a little more wandering though Madison and see what it has to offer.

One bummer about traveling this weekend was that I missed my daughter's first school play, in which see and all the other kindergardener gasticulated wildly about "the future." This was a little sad, and I didn't want to become one of those fathers who ends up in the middle of a Harry Chapin song, so before I headed off I caught the last rehearsal:

Athena's the one in the green shirt, sitting down. It was rather cute, although I think it helps to be a parent of one of the kids involved, if you know what I mean. Still, I'm glad I didn't have to miss it entirely.

And that's where we are at the moment.

YOU'RE IN MADISON?! Can you pass threw Milwaukee on your way back home? I'd still like to get your autograph. :) Okay, I'm a fan, lets admit it.

When's that new book coming out?! I want it when it gets fresh onto the shelves.

    Blessings,

    Sara

Wow! Explosive material! Madman mentioned what great parents you guys are and I have to agree totally:):)... You know that the kids keep logs on this stuff and a rehearsal is as good as the main thing really so you did the great thing by you both being there because your wife was there for the main event...
Nad it looked great from here. (You go Athena!)...
btw..do you guys like Greek mythology...

As a dad who has traveled often to workshops and conferences both as a presenter, keynote speaker, and attendee the most difficult aspect was missing those invaluable, irreplaceable family moments. They may seem mundane at the time but can add up over time. Your efforts to attend Athena's rehearsal may not be truly appreciated NOW, but keep at it John because over time it adds up, BIG TIME. Athena is one lucky gal to have a dedicated father like you. But I've mentioned that afore. Safe journey and enjoy Madison, it's a happening town I've always enjoyed visiting.
