Hearing Nothing at the moment

You know, while fulling acknowledging the fact I think it's awesome that the Astros finally made it into the World Series, I have to tell you that as someone who went to college on the south side of Chicago, I've been rooting for the White Sox, and (so far) they're coming through in astoundingly clutch ways.
My friend Darnell and I went to one of the very first games at what was then the new Comisky Park (I don't think it's officially called that anymore -- it's named after some corporation now, but you can guess what everyone in Chicago still calls it), and I managed to hit a couple other White Sox games in my tenure there, but I was never a huge fan. I'm still not, but I love the idea of the White Sox in the series, and possibly winning. As I'm sure some of you know, the last time the White Sox won a series was in 1917 -- a drought of epic proportions -- and the team participated in one of the worst moments in baseball (the "Black Sox" scandal of 1919). But honestly, they've paid their penance for that, I would say.
There's the other layer here, which is that the White Sox have perennially been the "other" baseball team in Chicago, living in the shadow of the Cubs and their even-more-mighty cursedness. Well, now the shoe is on the other foot -- the south side foot -- and you can bet that just as much as long-time White Sox fans are relishing the idea of winning the Series, they're relishing the idea of having one over Cubs fans even more. I can't say I don't find the irony delightful myself. So go White Sox, go.

Dear John,
Hey! What a game! Congrats! I think both teams tried hard, so you deserve a pat on the back!
hugs, natalie -
Did I mention before that I am a die hard dyed in the wool White Sox fan from the Southside of Chicago? Comiskey Park is now called Cellular Park or The Cell.

P.S. I wrote about curses, Charles Comiskey, Shoeless Joe jackson and Bill Veeck in my journal. -
I've never met people with more of an inferiority complex than White Sox fans. You'd think the Cubs stole their lunch money when they were kids or something.
Two years ago, when the Cubs blew their chance to make the World Series, Sox fans were dancing in the streets. This year, Cubs fans are hoping the Sox win. Why? Because they know it's about the CITY, not the teams.
If the Sox were playing the Cardinals, every single person in the city would be dressed in black and white. If the Cubs played the Indians in the World Series, every Sox fan would move to Cleveland. -
Go Astros!
I'm looking for seven games out of this series. Win or lose, it's a one up on Dallas for Houston. Look out as ya'll are coming to our house for the next three games!

You White Sox fans deserve a champion team.
I'm so happy for you..
