Hearing New Killer Star -- David Bowie

Here's a slightly sad harbinger of things to come: an empty nest, in a tree that has only a very few of its leaves left. As you can probably see, this nest has seen better days; I suspect it was squished into its current position by the Very Large Thunderstorm we had over the weekend. I doubt it was occupied at the time, and if it were, I imagine the residents have filed whatever claim they needed to for whatever avian nest insurance company they have and then hightailed it to Mexico for the winter (and who could blame them?). We're having some fairly high winds at the moment, so I'll be interested to see if the empty nest lasts for more than a few days.

We've had high winds too in the UK with torrential rain. I hope those birds had their nest insured!! Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlo
