Sending Letters

 Joe has updated Magic Smoke with more information about today's install, with two things of note:

* The issue of missing edit/owner buttons is being addressed with an emergency install;

* AOL has created an e-mail address to collect comments about the new update: journalchanges@aol.com. I heartily encourage you to send along the e-mail if you want to.

In the meantime, this entry is still open for comments if you want to leave them here as well, and I ask that if you do have comments about the install, that you put them there, rather than pepper other entries with comments about the install. I just want to make sure that people who want to see the comments can see them all in one place, rather than by hunting through several entries. And by all means, feel free to share the link and encourage people to comment there. Thanks.

    AOL listens to their customers? Can we sue for false advertising? I wonder if Julia Roberts knows she is now a liar?

    Hey John,
    So sorry you are getting some rude comments.  I hope our bloggers and our community will be polite to you and stand up as a community of fine people and not just be mouthy and crass.  How are you holding up- some of these comments I've read through in the past 24 hours are pretty rough n tuff sounding?!  Well, hang in there dude.  I and many others who have chosen to remain and work through this are still your friends.  People are just angry and spouting and running high on emotion.  I know you know that, but I feel the need to say it.  Hugs,
    Lisa

    I've already moved one blog to Blogspot where their free blogs have no ad banners.  I encourage all reading to make an entry announcing the boycott of regular content entries and the boycott of any companies featured in the ad banners.  I doubt those companies want their companies put in a negative light --

    Dear AOL~

    J-land is upset because our journal/blog was our soft place to fall.  Somewhere where we could come and relax and be ourselves or vent.  It is a horrible feeling to log on to write in your journal and find someone pulled the rug from underneath ya.  It is like you didn't care about us at all!  We were not even warned!

    We use to rant and rave about how great AOL was.  You changed that.  Not us.  You changed J-land forever, and not for the better.  Someone said you were not going to budge on removing the adds...and that you didn't care if we all left AOL and went somewhere else.  But you know the old saying?  The one that says every unhappy person tells 7-8 other people.  Do you care about the ripple effect?

    I remember, before I had a journal, you promoted journals like crazy!  "Start one today, they are free!"  Hmmm...what will be your slogan now?

    I am very disappointed in AOL.  Journaling changed my live and the lives of many others here.  If you think we are bluffing, and that a majority of us won't live...just watch us.

    Lori
