Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, and, frankly, I don't expect to see too many of you around here on that day, so I thought I'd post a Thanksgiving-themed Weekend Assignment this Thursday:

Weekend Assignment #86: Who are you thankful for -- who you won't be able to spend this Thanksgiving with? This is a chance to tell us about the people you care about who will be far away from you this holiday, or who have passed on but remain in your heart.

Extra Credit: Pumpkin pie vs. pecan pie -- which do you choose for Thanksgiving dessert?



I'll go for the easy answer here: My mom. She will be in California while I'll be in Ohio, but quite naturally I've very thankful for her. Aside from that whole "she gave birth to me thing" -- which is not to be overlooked -- she was always an implacable force when it came to looking out for my interests while I was growing up; never unpleasantly forceful, mind you, just with a surprising ability to get her way (and, usually, to make other people think it was their idea). It was good to know growing up my mom had my back when it counted. Also, I suspect I got my writing gene from her, and that's come in handy from time to time. So thanks, Mom -- you're the best. I'll be thinking of you this Thanksgiving, and wishing you were here.

Pumpkin v. pecan: Really not even a contest, I'm afraid. Pecan, baby. Pecan all the way.

  Looks like I'm late again! We broke from the usual drive to the family, so I did miss them. However, in honor, I added a series of photos to my journal to make up for it. Photos taken during last year's gathering between Thanksgiving 04 and Christmas 04. Posted 11-23-05, the day before TH day. Pecan Pie my favorite.

  The list is long & obvious to those who know me.  However the ones I miss the most are my son who is in the US Army & his beautiful 2 & 4 yr old daughters.  They're 2000 miles away & he's goin through his own personal hell. :(
  I will also miss Eddie.  Our beautiful little yorktese puppy who drowned this summer.  He was only 3 mos old.  
  As for pie, my personal preference of the 2 is pecan.  But of course I have to make pumpkin too.  This year I am making idividual pumpkin pies.  And a chocolate pie too...for the spoiled one who won't eat any other kind of pie! :)

  i miss my daughter candice lorriand D. i havnt heard from her in 3 years and  i do not kow where she is at present or if she is fed happy and taken care of i realley miss her

  Wow I haven't participated in a weekend assignment in such a long time, and I thought about this and then I posted my Happy Thanksgiving photograph of Turkey's in the wild with their babies from the trip we took this summer to New Mexico.  God, I have so much to be thankful for.  So here goes folks, here's mine:
