Hearing Every Day is Like Sunday -- The Pretenders

Many of you know that when I'm not here I'm off writing science fiction, so I thought I'd share something from that world with you: This attractive fellow above, who is called a "Ni-nin," and who makes an appearance in a short story I wrote called "Questions for a Soldier." The illustration is by a guy named Bob Eggleton, who has made quite a career in science and science fiction illustration (he's won awards! Which is more than I have), so it's pretty cool to have something from my imagination meet up with drawing hand.
Also, if you'll allow me a moment to share a bit of good news I just received, bookwise: I just sold my first novel, Old Man's War, to a French publisher, like, ten minutes ago. As the French say: le w00t! I'm very excited. Babelfish tells me the translation for "Old Man's War" in French is "La Guerre Du Vieil Homme," ("The War of the Old Man") -- perhaps we'll have a title change. Regardless, I'm pleased.
