Hearing Bald -- The Darkness

A Small Personal Moment

Because I like sharing personal good news with all y'all, allow me to note a bit of happy news that happened yesterday: I agreed to a three-book deal with Tor Books, the folks who published Old Man's War (and its upcoming sequel, The Ghost Brigades). One of those books is going be another OMW sequel (which I plan on calling The Last Colony), while the other two will comprise a new series in themselves. It's very exciting news -- not just because I like writing books, but also because it means I know what I'm going to be doing with my life for the next year. Which, when you're a freelance sort of person as I am, is not always a totally clear thing. Anyway, that's my moment of squee for you.

(Note: As the other entries I have planned for today don't deal with AOL tech issues, consider this also the entry to bash banner ads in the comments.)

    Dear John,

    ((((((((((Congratulations!)))))))
I really enjoyed Old Man's War, so the new series sounds most promising!
