Hearing Nothing at the moment

Brrrrrr.

Sometime in the middle of the night the furnace stopped working. Either the problem is the furnace itself, or that we're out of propane. Either way, damn, it's cold around here.

This happened once before to us a couple of years ago on what turned out to be one of the coldest nights of the year (we're talking near zero) and that was pretty bad; this time around it's only about 18 degrees outside and we have a couple of space heaters to keep our bedroom and my office warm, so it's not a crisis. Even so, we'll be getting this addressed today. Being cold is one thing. Being cold for more than one night in a row is another.

Update: It's the propane. Also, the water pipes are fine.

Been there ... I was just thinking a time when that happened to me while I was folding clothes this evening.  When that happened to me (is) I had to turn the oven on for heat.  Not a good idea I might add.  I'm lucky I didn't burn the place down because I lived in a mobile home like back in the early 80's and it was an OLDER model then.  One of our neighbors burned his down, turned out to be a fella I went to school with (and one I had a mighty big crush on too) ... unfortunately, he died in the fire.  So anyway, I hope you get warm soon ...

Well when the heat goes out let the water dribble a bit, then the pipes do not freeze. At least that's what my boss who was a plumber always told me.  This is one time that I am glad that I am in Florida...it's cold here at 68 degrees.  Sorry had to add that....Sandi http://journals.aol.com/sdoscher458/LifeIsFullOfSurprises

    Fingers crossed it's the propane.

The problem is not YOU being cold.  The problem is your WATER PIPES being cold.  You'll probably survive; they won't.  OH, the joys of home ownership.
