Attack of the Edible Snowmen!

Picture from Hometown

Athena's having her birthday party a week early (because it's hard to organize a birthday party on her actual birthday, on account it's too close to Christmas), and Krissy wanted to do something both seasonal and special, so she made snowman cupcakes for the kids who will be at the party. Here they are, awaiting deployment.

Krissy is annoyed that they don't look exactly like the ones in the book she got the idea from, but I reminded her that real life is rarely as well art-directed as a modern cookbook, and anyway, these snowmen will last only the three seconds it will take the group of six and seven year olds to get them from their hands to their mouths. They're more than good enough. And look! They seem so happy to be consumed!

Aww..they are sooo cute!!  So much cuter than Martha Stewart's perfect ones!   Krissy--the ones in the magazine are NOT real; they are made of plastic, or they are made by Martha's alien friends.  Have a fun birthday party!  Julie :)

I made Smore Men a few years back by placing these creatures on a piece of Hershy's chocolat and a 1/2 of graham cracker. 12-15 seconds in the microwave works great to complete the treat when ready to eat.
    Happy Birthday Krissy!

Happy Birthday. Athena! I know how it feels to have a birthday so close to Christmas (my birthday is tomorrow). I think it's great that you and Krissy make ways to make her birthday special in spite of the Christmas thing. I've never hated that my birthday was so close--I've always thought it was cool. It's like having a party within a party.

The snowmen are too cute. Tell Krissy not to worry, my stuff never turns out like the pictures in the books. The positive thing is that most 7 and 8 year olds don't read those sorts of books and don't care anyway as long as the food in question is good.

    Happy day!
    Jess

My kiddies saw the pic, and are insisting that we make SnowMen!  Yikes, I need a timer, I burn boiling water, rather what is left the pot!!!!  I am not the greatest baker or desert queen, I can function to my best as a everything else chef!  :)
Happy Birthday Athena, very special little girl, for mommy to have made such a fuss, to perfect these somewhat scary snowmen! (lol)

    Smooches,
    Nena
