Hearing White Christmas -- Bing Crosby

Strike!

By now most of you know that New York City transit workers are on strike. I'm interested in hearing for those AOL Journalers and others in NYC about how they're dealing with it today. Are you staying home? Starting your holiday vacations early? Taking cabs? Can you even find a cab today? Do tell!

What's kind of funny: The little poll that goes to the story linked to above asks people which side of the strike they sympathize with. The most popular response: "I'm just glad I don't live there."

On the other hand I suppose this really does promote the cause of telecommuting.

it must be frightening not to have the rail available;especially if it has been your right arm for getting to work and getting supplies

I hadn't heard about this strike until today. I think that they have to do what they have to. I don't know the whole situation but what can a person do. I am going to search around and see if I can find some more info on the subject.

What an awful time of year to go on strike!  Something tells me that this is not going to last very long.  The visual of 4 UPS men in a truck sounds pretty sexy though.  UPS men tend to be cute as it is; but I guess out there they aren't wearing shorts right now...  Sorry ladies!  Julie

Not since Hurricane Katrina have I seen that many desperately-needed busses sitting behind a fence.
