Hearing Maestoso -- Frederic Chopin
Here's a juxtaposition for you: Athena, in her Easter dress, all proper and cute, out paying softball with her cousins. And doing a pretty good job of it, too -- she's on a little league team now, and we've been practicing her hitting and catching, both of which she does pretty well for a seven year old. Now, here's an odd thing, or at least odd to me: She hits left-handed but throws right-handed (as you can see in the picture). Her mother does the same thing, though, so maybe it's not that weird after all. I do know that everytime someone sees Athena bat, the first thing they say is "Hey! She bats lefty!" as if this is a rare and precious gift. And perhaps it is.
Easter was very nice: The whole family converged upon the in-laws and we stuffed ourselves senseless with food and conversation, and had an easter egg hunt for the kids. You know, like you do. Once the hunt was over the kids decided it hadn't gone on long enough, so they hid the eggs again and then ran all over the yard a second time. The Easter bunny will be out of a job if this keeps up.
How was your Easter and/or Sunday?

My Easter was hard. I spent it alone eating a TV dinner because my husband is back in the hospital with complications from his bone marrow transplant. Probably not the cheery news you wanted to hear, but you asked, lol.

Don't take this the wrong way, but Athena could be a good-from-either-side-of-the-
plate switch hitter.... a valuable thing in the ball/bat realm. There are advantages a batter gains when hitting lefty against a righty pitcher, and vice-versa. Every team tries to keep a switch-hitter on the roster somewhere.
Stick her on the righty side of the plate against a left-hander if you can.... you may find that she suffers no loss of effectiveness. If so, cool- she has a marketable trait. Make sure that she understands it, so that she can take advantage of it during games.
Due to the underhand pitching in softball, it is slightly less effective than it is in baseball when she bats against a righty.
