Hearing Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op 22 -- Chopin
I went out on my front porch yesterday and found something I wasn't expecting, which inspired me to suggest this week's photo shoot:
Your Monday Photo Shoot: Take a snap of something you've found surprising or unexpected. This could be anything from your normally combative dog and cat taking a nap together to a flower sprouting in a parking lot -- anything that you take a look at and say "well, there's something you don't see every day."
Here's what I found on the front porch:

My wife put up little planters on the side of our front door with some fake flowers in them -- so they would always be pretty, you see. Apparently some local robins agreed because they put their nest there, and as you can see they're expecting sometime soon. The fact that robins have staked out our front porch was unexpected, and I also like the idea of these fake flowers harboring real, new life. It's just a nice combination.
The only real problem is that every time we go on the front porch the robins fly away, which can't be good for the eggs. So we're going out the garage door most of the time. Having our cats do that, too -- we don't really want our little predators making a play for the birds. Fortunately for the robins (and their eggs) the planter is too high up (and too far away from the porch railing) for the cats to get at it. The baby birds that could come out of this have a good chance of making it and flying away one day.
That's my photo of the unexpected; what's yours? Snap a picture or pull a picture from your archives, post it on your blog or Journal, and then come back here to leave a link. And remember: Just because it's the Monday Photo Shoot doesn't mean you can't post a picture on Tuesday, Wednesday or even Thursday. Take your time; the photo shoot will be here.
P.S. -- Because I was having connection problems last week, I didn't get around to sharing what I took a photo of for last week's "close up" Photo Shoot. If you guessed it was my Coca-Cola Blak bottle, pat yourself on the back, because that's what it was. I took the photo from the underside of the bottle, shooting up toward the cap. Made for a pretty cool shot, I thought.
