By The Way...

I've been digging on Are You Nervous?, the major label debut of LA's Rock Kills Kid, since it came out earlier this week. These guys took a time machine back to early 80s, went to all the rock shows in LA at the time, you know, the ones with the P-Furs and early U2 and whatnot, and then came back and practiced what they learned. What you get is a tuneful shoutout to the rock stylings of yesteryear, with enough current trappings to sound fresh, not reheated. Check out my favorite tune from the album, "Hide Away." And if that trips your trigger, you'll probably dig "Raise Your Hands." And if you don't like either, man, I don't know what's wrong with you.

  Liking it.  Not a bad sound at all.  There's another song, "Are You Nervous," and a video for "Paralyzed" on the band's AOL Music page...

  I may be wrong, but I think their new CD is in this week's batch of AOL New Releases... along with not-one-but-two CDs from personal Smurf fave Dinosaur Jr.
