Hearing Moon River -- Petra Haden
Comrades! Join me to explore the greatest Soviet buildings never built! The USSR always had this thing for truly outsized architecture, and this small collection features a sampling of the really impressive buildings and monuments thought up in the 30s through the 50s but never built (such as the all-too-Sovietly-named People's Соmmissariat of Heavy Industry above). Guess there weren't enough bricks in that year's five year plan. Shame about that.

Looking at those drawings reminds me of the artwork representing alien planets on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I liked the Yakov Smirnoff Center For The Performing Arts building.

It's also sad because many of these dreams died because of corruption in the government, or just "lack of funding." At the same time, if these dreams had be realized, how different would today's world be?
