Hearing Yellow -- Miles DavisOn Tonight's Episode of John Scalzi Runs A Not-All-That-Cleve
For those of you who keep up with the geek stuff, here's a very interesting back-and-forth about "Net Neutrality" between former White House staffer and current phone industry lobbyist Mike McCurry, and "Craigslist" founder Craig Newmark.
For those of you not keeping up with this, the phone industry wants to be able to start charging high-traffic sites, like Google or Yahoo or AOL, for preferential data speeds on their networks. Those who oppose this -- who are for "net neutrality" -- say that all data needs to be treated equally, and that not doing so represents a fundamental (and they think dangerous) change in the democratic nature of the 'Net.
How this is eventually decided will make a big difference in how the Net looks in the future, so even if you're new to this issue, this debate is worth checking out. This is something you want to be in the know about.

I bet it gets resolved in the manner that effs Joe and Jo Little Guy the hardest.
