Hearing New Life -- Depeche Mode
I've got a peaceful, easy feeling, and it's not just because I'm listening to stoned-out 70s rock. No, it's just sometimes you like to focus on things that don't move. Persuant to this, this week's Photo Shoot:
Your Monday Photo Shoot: Take a snap of something in a "still life" mode. It doesn't have to be a bowl of fruit, mind you (although there's nothing wrong with a bowl of fruit, if that's your thing). But something that you can get contemplative about would be nice. Also, it doesn't move, unless you go and pick it up.
Here's mine:

To the west of my house is a hay field , which would explain how these hay bales got there. These things are huge, incidentally; about as tall as I am. I'm not an expert on these things, but I do believe the bales are left out for a couple of days to dry before they are carted off, so I went out and snapped this during one of those time. This picture is all about the composition and editing, incidentally, because just out of frame on the left is a house and just out of frame on the right is a huge pole barn. But this picture makes it look like its just two big ol' bales of hay on a vast expanse of prairie or something. Works for me.
You're up: Get a pick of something in a still life sort of way. Then drop it into your journal or blog and come back here and leave a link. Let's get all arty, what do you say?

I love the pictures that come from these "photo shoots". I am an elderly lady and do not get out much and they really brighten my day. I love the big roind hay bales and have seen lots of them. You have done a marvelous job of capturing them. Bevedear...

I love seeing these hay sculptures in the fields. I drive by them so often and think what a great picture they would make! You have done a fine job.
