Hearing Crocodile Rock -- Elton John
What happens when a million European starlings join forces and fly together during their annual migration to wherever it is they are going when they migrate? Some truly amazing pictures, that's what. In Denmark, where this happens, they call this "the black sun," because the flocks are so large and dense they can block out the sun. That's just cool. Unless, of course, you are directly underneath the flock. In which case you might want an umbrella.

I wish that would happen here. That would totally drive my cats bonkers.
As it stands, I'll just have to settle for watching them tear apart the basement whenever a bird hits a window and falls to the ground. For some reason, they think they fall into the basement when they hit the house. It's gotten to be comically Pavlovian. For example, I can give any window a thwap, and they will both wake up, jump off the couch and run into the basement. Hours of fun.
